We've Joined the Yuba Sutter Chamber of Commerce!

The CalWORKs Employment Services Division hosted a ribbon cutting
ceremony and open house at the Yuba County One Stop on October 24, 2006,
to celebrate becoming a member of the Yuba Sutter Chamber of Commerce.
The event was a great success thanks to the collaboration of the One
Stop partners which included: YCHHSD Employment Services Division,
Employment Development Department (EDD), Office of Education Regional
Career Center (RCC), Veterans Services, First 5 Yuba Commission, Army
National Guard, and Women, Infants & Children (WIC).
Theresa Gallier, Work
Experience Coordinator and a Chamber Ambassador, served as Master of
Ceremonies. The event began with speeches by special guests Suzanne
Nobles, YCHHSD Director, and Bill Simmons, Office of Education Regional
Career Center Director, followed by the official ribbon cutting
ceremony. Guests were invited to a guided tour of the One Stop building
to meet representatives from each of the One Stop partnering agencies
and received useful information about available services and free
gifts. The evening ended with drawings for door prizes and refreshments
which were generously donated by Albertson's of Marysville, Botanica
Landscapes, The Brick Coffee House Cafe, California Army National Guard,
Employer Advisory Council, Freetime Java, Lakeview Center, Pepsi Cola
Bottling, Prime Time Pizza and Subway of Marysville.
Thanks to all the great staff who
participated: Ann Chellis, Cynthia Sanders, Penelope Heitman, Theresa
Hazlerig, Louise McCoy, Stephanie Smith, Gina Jones, Deana Manning,
DeEtta Bird, Joyce Ash, and Pamela Morasch. A special “thank you” to
Betty Mello, Theresa Gallier and Diana Clavel for the months of planning
and preparations to make this event such a great success.
The Yuba County One Stop has been
instrumental in connecting job seekers with local employers and plays a
vital role in promoting self-sufficiency for CalWORKs Welfare-to-Work
participants. Our new affiliation with the Yuba Sutter Chamber of
Commerce is sure to enhance our menu of services and we look forward to
many opportunities to come for our Welfare-to-Work participants.
