Effective Monday, December 14, 2020 the Yuba County Assessor’s Office has closed its office to the public and will be providing services by phone, internet, and appointment only. This is a precautionary measure taken to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

|Role of the County Assessor’s Office
The Assessor’s Office is responsible for annually determining the assessed value of all real and business property in Yuba County. The fair and equitable valuation and assessment of all taxable property by the Assessor’s staff supports the delivery of essential public services provided to all residents and property owners. The Assessor does not apportion, calculate, or bill taxes.
On November 3, 2020, California voters approved Proposition 19, The Home Protection for Seniors, Severely Disabled, Families, and Victims of Wildfire or Natural Disasters Act. Proposition 19 will prevent people who inherit family properties from keeping the low property tax base unless they use the home as their primary residence and the market value is less than $1 million. This constitutional amendment also allows homeowners who are over 55, disabled, or victims of natural disasters to transfer their assessed value of their primary home to a newly purchased or newly constructed replacement primary residence.
County assessors are currently working with the State Board of Equalization on guidance. Specific questions about how Proposition 19 will be administered will be posted on our website as soon as more information becomes available. To learn more https://www.boe.ca.gov/prop19/
