Code Enforcement Case Process

Complaint/Case Process

In most cases, citizen complaints are what drive a concern to be investigated. However, where circumstances pose an immediate threat to the health and safety of our communities, a citizen complaint is not necessary. The case process includes complaint intake, investigation, education, abatement (either voluntary or by official action) and cost recovery. Although the process contains only a few steps, a case lifecycle can be complex and lengthy. Once a code case is generated, responses are prioritized based on the nature of allegations as they affect the health, safety and welfare of the community.

**We afford the property owner and/or tenant the opportunity for voluntary compliance whenever possible.**
