Sewage Disposal

The Sewage Disposal Program ensures that the health of the public and the environment is protected from the improper disposal of sewage from on-site wastewater treatment systems (OWTS) and greywater systems.

The Sewage Disposal Program ensures that OWTS are properly sited and designed to prevent impacts to groundwater, surface waters and the public. Additionally, we ensure that septic tank, portable toilet, and vault waste haulers are disposing of waste at an approved disposal facility.

The Sewage Disposal Program evaluates proposals for and permits OWTS, investigates complaints relating to illegal or unsafe sewage disposal, maintains records of and monitors the construction, repair and maintenance of OWTS. We inspect and permit waste haulers and monitor their monthly records of service.
