Environmental Health currently accepts complaints in the following ways:
Please Note: There are a number of complaints that are handled by other Yuba County departments or other outside agencies including the cities of Marysville and Wheatland. If you are not sure regarding the type of complaint, see below for description about the complaints investigated by Environmental Health.

Environmental Health does not accept anonymous complaints and they will not be processed without your name, address and phone number.
Note: The name and other identifying information obtained by an Enforcement Official shall remain confidential unless a court order has been obtained authorizing the release of such information.

Questions regarding the status of an open case should be directed to the assigned specialist. All other inquiries can be directed to the main line. 


Environmental Health investigates a number of public or environmental health complaints:

Retail Food: Complaints would include any suspected food borne illness from restaurants, mobile vendors, food carts, special events, or any other operation that distributes food to the public.  Food complaints may also be made regarding any facility that may be operating without a permit. 

Hazardous Materials/Waste: Complaints would include any suspected release or spill of a chemical or due to abandoned or illegally disposed of chemicals. 

Sewage: Complaints would include suspected surfacing sewage or sewage odors from resident or business onsite septic systems or those connected to a public sewage utility. For sewage being disposed to the ground from RV's or other temporary housing please contact the local Code Enforcement department responsible for the specific jurisdiction. Yuba County Code Enforcement is responsible for all unincorporated areas of the County. City of Marysville and the City of Wheatland have authority within their respective city limits. 

Solid Waste: Complaints would include public nuisances from solid waste or green waste facilities such as: odors, vermin, excessive noise, uncontained trash or debris. Solid waste Complaints would also include illegally dumped or abandoned solid waste or waste tires on public land. Excessive junk, trash or debris accumulated on private property should be reported to the local Code Enforcement agency. Yuba County Code Enforcement is responsible for all unincorporated areas of the County. City of Marysville and the City of Wheatland have authority within their respective city limits. 

Housing: Complaints would include issues at hotels and motels such as: bed bugs, cockroaches or other vermin, mold, fixtures in need of repair or other substandard building standards. Sub-standard housing issues at single family residences or multi-family units should be reported to the local Code Enforcement agency. Yuba County Code Enforcement is responsible for all unincorporated areas of the County. City of Marysville and the City of Wheatland have authority within their respective city limits. 

Miscellaneous: Complaints would include commercial kennels or public pools and spas. Residential complaints should be reported to the local enforcement agency. Yuba County Code Enforcement is responsible for all unincorporated areas of the County. City of Marysville and the City of Wheatland have authority within their respective city limits. If you are not sure Environmental Health is the correct agency please feel free to submit a Miscellaneous complaint and our staff will assist you in correctly directing your inquiry. 

Dry Well: Report your dry well - this information is intended to inform Yuba County on drought impacts on household water supplies.

Air Quality: For air quality issues such as: odors, smoke or current air quality contact Feather River Air Quality Management District (FRAQMD).

Vector Control: For vector control issues such as: neglected pools, reporting a dead bird, mosquito abatement or other vermin issues contact Sutter-Yuba Mosquito and Vector Control District.
