Mobile Food Facilities/ Food Trucks

MOBILE FOOD FACILITIES

The phrase "Mobile Food Truck" or “Mobile Food Facility” refers to several different types of vehicles that food is sold from.  Some examples include:

  • food trucks
  • ice cream trucks
  • Coffee carts
  • hot dog carts
  • produce trucks
  • frozen meat sales trucks
  • sandwich trucks

“Commissary” means a food facility that services mobile food facilities, mobile support units, or vending machines where any of the following occur:
(a) Food, containers, or supplies are stored.
(b) Food is prepared or prepackaged for sale or service at other locations.
(c) Utensils are cleaned.
(d) Liquid and solid wastes are disposed, or potable water is obtained.

All Mobile Food Trucks/ Trailers must have a commissary. A commissary is a permitted commercial kitchen. A Commissary Agreement Form is provided in the navigation bar.



All Mobile Food Facilities are required to have a valid permit sticker at all times for the county where food is being sold to the public. 

To obtain a permit, the vehicle must meet all requirements, submit a commissary verification form, complete an application, obtain a Manager's Food Safety Certificate, pay the service request fee and annual permit fee, and pass the plan review.   Additionally, HCD (Housing Community Development ). Contact HCD if you do not have a HCD Insignia on your Food Truck/ Trailer.

Vehicles must pass inspection every year to maintain a current permit sticker.                         

Please Note: Vehicles that do not pass on the plan review process may be required to pay a additional fees for additional inspections.
