COVID Voting Impacts

COVID-19 VOTING IMPACTS

A MESSAGE FROM THE REGISTRAR OF VOTERS

I hope you and your family have remained safe during these trying COVID-19 times.  I know there are many different opinions associated with COVID-19, but as the Yuba County Registrar of Voters, it is my intent to make the November 3, 2020 election as safe an environment, as possible, for poll workers and those voters that choose to vote in person.  Elections in any day are not the easiest events to administer; add requirements directed by the Governor, Secretary of State, and our local Health Officer, and it becomes extremely difficult to manage.  This page is intended to provide you with the information you will need to vote in person on November 3rd.  Please realize our poll workers are volunteers doing their very best and I sincerely hope you will cooperate as we all work for a successful election in Yuba County.

VOTING BY MAIL
As directed by Executive Order N-64-20  every registered voter will be sent a vote by mail ballot with a prepaid postage return envelope.

Voted ballots can be returned several ways:
  • By Mail: There is no postage required but your ballot must be postmarked on or before Election Day.
  • By Drop Box:  A ballot drop box will be available 24/7 at the Yuba County Government Center.  (The exact location is being finalized and will be posted.)
  • In Person at the Elections Office:   Ballots must be received by 8:00 pm Election Day.
  • In Person at a Polling Site:  Voters can deliver their ballot to any polling location by 8:00 p.m. Election Day.  A list of Yuba County polling sites will be included with your ballot.

VOTING IN PERSON
In person voting will be available.   With the exception of the Camptonville poll site, voting locations will be the same as the March 2020 Primary Election.  The Camptonville polling site has moved to the Alcouffe Community Center.

Important information for voters who choose/need to vote in person:
  • Voters must wear a face covering.
  • Voters must comply with social distancing requirements. This may result in long lines and longer than usual wait times.  Lines may extend outside the voting area to the outdoors.   Be prepared.
  • The need to sanitize voting booths between voters will also increase wait times.
  • To reduce voter processing time, each voter should bring the ballot they received in the mail with them to the polling site.  This ballot will be turned in (un-voted) before being issued a precinct ballot.
