Adoption is caring and guiding children through their growing years and giving them the love and understanding they need to develop their full potential.  Adoption of a child permanently gives parental rights to adoptive parents.

Birth Certificates

Ordering a Certified Copy of a Birth Certificate:

  • Event must have occurred within the County of Yuba.
  • Records are retained for the current year and 1 year prior in the Health Department.  Any record needed for prior years can be obtained by contacting the Yuba County Clerk-Recorder at (530) 749-7851, located at 915 8th Street, Marysville, CA 95901.
  • A sworn statement must be completed by the individual requesting copies.  The sworn statement must be notarized, if requesting copies by mail.
  • Birth certificates cost $29 per copy.

To register an out-of-hospital birth that occurred in Yuba County:
Contact Yuba County Public Health Vital Records at (530) 749-6755 to obtain an application packet to register the birth and for further information. 

California Health & Safety Code §102400 require all births to be registered with the Local Registrar within 10 days of the event.

CalFresh 

CalFresh (formerly Food Stamps) is a food program to help families and individuals buy healthy foods. CalFresh benefit amounts are based on your household’s size, income, and expenses.

Your CalFresh application only needs to have your name, address, and signature to begin the application process. You may apply for CalFresh benefits:

We can help you complete the application if you call or come into our office. You may also download the Application for CalFresh Benefits (CF 285) form: English, Spanish, Hmong, and other languages.

You may be able to get Expedited Service CalFresh within 3 days if we have proof of your identity and your household meets one of the below:

  • Your household’s combined monthly gross income and cash resources are less than your monthly shelter and utility costs, or
  • Your household has less than $150.00 gross monthly income and $100.00 or less in cash resources, or
  • There is a migrant or seasonal farmworker in your household and your cash resources are $100 or less.

California Children's Services

The California Children’s Services program provides diagnostic and treatment services, medical case management, and physical and occupational therapy services to children under age 21 with CCS-eligible medical conditions.  Examples of CCS-eligible conditions include, but are not limited to chronic medical conditions such as;cystic fibrosis, hemophilia, cerebral palsy, heart disease, cancer, traumatic injuries, and infectious diseases producing major sequelae.

Cash Assistance Program
California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) provides cash assistance and supportive services to eligible families with children and pregnant individuals to meet basic needs. CalWORKs provides:

  • Childcare, work expense assistance, transportation, and counseling.
  • Education, employment and training programs through Employment Services.
  • Support for families moving toward self-sufficiency.

Refugee Cash Assistance (RCA) provides short-term cash assistance to newly arrived refugees and other immigrants who are not otherwise eligible to any other cash assistance program. This program may be available for up to 12 months from date of admission to the United States.

Trafficking and Crime Victim Assistance Program (TCVAP) provides short-term cash assistance to non-citizen survivors of human trafficking, domestic violence, and other serious crimes while their Visas are being processed by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR).

Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants (CAPI) provides state-funded cash assistance to certain non-citizens who are not eligible to the Supplemental Security Income/State Supplementary Payment (SSI/SSP) programs. You may be eligible to CAPI if you are a non-citizen who is either 65 or older, blind, or disabled. Eligibility is based on income, property, residency, and SSI/SSP rules.

General Assistance (GA) is a county-funded cash assistance program that assists needy persons not eligible to federal or state cash assistance programs. For more information about GA, call (530) 749-6311 or come into our office at 5730 Packard Avenue, Suite 100, Marysville, CA  95901.

Home Visiting

Home visiting aims to promote maternal health, improved child development and strengthen families and communities.  The program provides participants with the necessary resources and skills to help raise a physically, socially and emotionally healthy child.

Housing Assistance
Yuba County's housing assistance program offers services and access to resources for individuals and families who are currently homeless.

In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Provider
An IHSS provider is someone who is paid to provide services to a person who receives services under the IHSS Program.  To become an IHSS provider, you must complete the IHSS Provider Orientation, background check and application process.

In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Consumer 
The IHSS Program provides personal and domestic services to aged (over 65), blind or disabled individuals who require assistance to remain safe in their own home.  
To apply for services, you must be eligible to Medi-Cal and complete the application process for the IHSS Program.

Medi-Cal, County Medical Services Program, and Health Insurance

Medi-Cal is California's Medicaid health care program. This program pays for a variety of medical services for children, seniors, adults, persons with disabilities, foster care, a pregnant person, people with specific diseases such as tuberculosis, breast or cervical cancer, kidney dialysis, parenteral hyperalimentation and related services with limited income and resources.

The County Medical Services Program (CMSP) provides health coverage options to low-income adults that may not be eligible to other health care programs.

Covered California makes it simple and more affordable for millions of Californians to get affordable, quality health insurance that can’t be canceled or denied because of a pre-existing medical condition or if someone gets sick.

Resource Family (Foster Family)

Resource Families provide a special service to children and to the community by providing temporary and/or adoptive homes to children in Foster Care.  They provide the child(ren) in their care with a nurturing, stable and loving environment.

Veterans Assistance: File or Appeal a Claim
The County Veterans Service Office (CVSO) assists the veteran's community of Yuba and Sutter counties with obtaining federal, state, and local benefits to which they are entitled based upon service in the Armed Forces of the United States.  The veteran's community consists of veterans, their dependents, and the survivors of deceased veterans.

Become a Work Experience/Subsidized Employment Site
(How do I do business with HHS?)
Subsidized Employment will reimburse you 100% of the employee’s wages for the initial three months and 75% for the next three months-that means you can train your new employee for very little out-of-pocket expense.  You get to choose who you hire and decide whether they are a good fit for your business.

If you have a job opportunity which will last at least 6 months at 20-40 hours a week and pays at least minimum wage call our Subsidized Employment Coordinator (530) 749-6891 and our trained, professional staff will assist you through all the phases of the program.
