New County computer kiosks boost access for residents

Whether searching Assessor records or making camping reservations, two new computer kiosks with access to county services are now available to residents visiting the Yuba County Government Center.

The kiosks, located in the Community Development and Services Agency at 915 Eighth Street in Marysville, are part of a project to update the agency’s lobby area and enhance the experience for visitors. The computers have targeted access of county business-related websites that can provide both informational and educational services.

“We always have a team ready to assist county residents and business owners on matters related to building, planning, environmental health and public works, but a good Internet connection is just as important to get them quickly connected to other helpful information,” said department director Kevin Mallen.

Mallen said the computer kiosks are currently set up to access specific information that overlaps services provided by his department. These include:

  • The Yuba County Website
  • eTRAKiT (search permits, projects, violations, zoning designations, etc.)
  • Megabyte (search Assessor records – ownership, structure info, property valuation, etc.)
  • Municode (search for Yuba County ordinance codes)
  • Itinio online (Yuba County Park Reservation System – for Sycamore Ranch/Hammon Grove)
  • Google Earth

“This opportunity for our community is just getting started, so our residents can expect to see additional websites and programs made available on these kiosks,” Mallen said. “We already have some ideas on what can be added, and we will listen to suggestions from those using the system.”

The computer kiosks are available for use free-of-charge during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The kiosks are closed for lunch between noon and 1 p.m.
