Yuba County Deputy Awarded Bronze Medal of Merit

On June 24, 2021 during a monthly recognition ceremony, Yuba County Sheriff-Coroner Wendell Anderson presented the Bronze Medal of Merit Award to Patrol Deputy Valentino “Tino” Aguirre. Tino, a 6-year employee of Yuba County, received the distinguished recognition for his life-saving actions during a tense medical aid call of a one-year-old infant boy who was found unresponsive and not breathing in the shower at his family’s Linda home on May 26, 2021.

On Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. during the Yuba County Board of Supervisors Meeting at 915 8th St, Marysville, and in the presence of the infant’s family, Deputy Aguirre will be recognized by the board for his heroic response that day. We will share audio of the 911 call and the body camera footage captured when the camera was unintentionally activated as Deputy Aguirre held the infant while he administered CPR to the unconscious boy, until he began breathing again.

As a direct result of Deputy Aguirre’s heroism, the infant has made a full recovery and is back with his family after being treated at the hospital.

The Yuba County Board of Supervisor’s Meeting Information and Agenda can be found at https://agendasuite.org/iip/yuba/meeting/details/193, and is open to the public and media; and available on zoom as well.
