Yuba County Sheriff Detectives are investigating a suspicious death after a man’s body was located in a home located in the 4400 block of Fleming Way in Olivehurst just before noon on Wednesday 6/30/2021. A neighbor contacted the Sheriff’s department with concerns that she had not seen her neighbor for several months and his cats were inside with no indication of anyone home nor coming and going from the residence to care for them. Deputies responded to the home along with Animal Care Services to conduct a welfare check on the resident and cats.

Upon arrival and with no response from inside, deputies concerned for the wellbeing of the resident and animals, entered the backyard to investigate further. Deputies were then able to see through a sliding glass door an unknown deceased person in advanced decomposition in a bedroom.

Due to finding evidence that a forced entry and burglary had possibly occurred at the home, detectives responded and assumed the investigation. The identity and cause of death of the deceased is pending autopsy and the case is under active investigation.
