Shooting Suspect Arrested for Homicide

Linda, Ca.  Yuba County Sheriff Detectives have arrested a 60-year-old man from Linda, identified as Laurence Lang, in the shooting death of another man outside an apartment complex in the 1900 block of Country Club Court on Wednesday evening, 4/6/2022.

At approximately 6:00 p.m., Deputies responded to several 911 calls reporting a shooting had occurred outside the complex, with one victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. When responders arrived, they located the victim and immediately began administering medical aid. Despite life saving measures, the victim was declared dead at the scene. Multiple witnesses provided a name and description of the suspect known to several neighbors in the area. The suspect fled the scene of the shooting prior to deputies arriving.

After further investigation, detectives received information on a vehicle Lang was known to drive. After an intense and ongoing search of the area, the vehicle was spotted by detectives at approximately 11:30 p.m. traveling east on Simpson Lane nearing Hammonton Smartsville Rd. in Linda. A felony traffic stop was conducted on Ash Way, and Lang was taken into custody without further incident.

Lang was booked into the Yuba County Jail overnight on charges of Homicide, and Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition by a Prohibited Person, with a bail of 1 million dollars.

The victim was identified as 43-year-old Robert Zandstra of Linda. The investigation into the circumstances leading up to the homicide remain under active investigation.
