'Shop with a Cop' Returns to Yuba County this Holiday

‘SHOP WITH A COP’ RETURNS TO YUBA COUNTY THIS HOLIDAY

Marysville, Ca. – Every December, the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO), along with help from the local Walmart store, help make the holidays a little brighter for some very deserving children. This year will be no different, as the date of December 20, 2022, has been set for YCSO’s “Shop with a Cop” event.

Approximately 75 children from the Yuba-Sutter Area were nominated by teachers, social services workers, and other law enforcement officials, to receive $100 for a shopping spree at Walmart with one of YCSO’s deputies or other staff. The event starts at 9 a.m. with a warm breakfast prepared for the children, followed by an hour of shopping with their YCSO helper. Not only does this event provide gifts that these children might not have been able to receive, but it also affords the opportunity for deputies to build positive relationships with the youth in the area.

“Being able to see the smiles from these children as they shop, is honestly the best gift I could ever receive,” says Sheriff Wendell Anderson. “I am extremely proud of CSO Rosa Leon for coordinating this ever year, and for the staff who really seem to enjoy the experience.”

The YCSO would like to thank the Linda Walmart store who along with other anonymous donors, and the assistance from the STARS Volunteer group, help make the event possible year after year.
Although this event is not open to the public, it’s important for the community to be aware of the efforts being made to take care of each other, especially around the holidays.
