Olivehurst, Ca. – Around 7:40 p.m. on February 5, 2023, Yuba County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 5700 block of Alicia Avenue for a shots fired call.  When they arrived, a 10-year-old male victim was located inside the home with a single gunshot wound. Emergency personnel took the child to Adventist Health and Rideout Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  Due to the age of the victim, no other identifying information will be released. 

Shortly after the shooting, YCSO investigators arrested Juan Ortiz (31-year-old) of Olivehurst, for the charges of homicide, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, felon in possession of a firearm, and felon in possession of ammunition.
