Tax Sale Auction Scheduled for Feb. 24 - 27

Properties that have been in default for five or more years may become subject to the Tax Collector's Power to Sell. Power to Sell is a legally binding document that is recorded by the Tax Collector with the County Recorder's Office which gives the Tax Collector the legal authority to sell the property at auction as an effort to recoup any and all unpaid taxes and fees; this collection effort is required and governed by California Revenue and Taxation Code.

In order to avoid Power to Sell being filed against your property, you would need to pay off your property taxes prior to the fifth anniversary of your default date or enroll in and successfully maintain a payment plan. For those properties that remain in a tax-defaulted status for five years or more, are not enrolled in a good-standing payment plan, and have had Power to Sell filed against them will be offered for sale at public auction.

Our tax sale (auction) is scheduled for February 24-27, 2024.
