The probation department cannot give any legal advise. If your child does not have an attorney prior to their first court appearance, an attorney will be appointed to them during their appearance.
How do I get a copy of the police report?
The probation department does not have the authority to release police reports. To obtain a copy of a report, contact the arresting agency. They will determine if the police report can be released to you.
My child is out of control? Can I bring them to juvenile hall?
No. Juvenile hall does not accept youth who have not been charged with a crime. Only those youth who have committed a crime and are viewed as a danger to society or a flight risk are detained.
Is my child eligible for services if he/she is not on probation?
Yes. You may contact the probation department and speak to someone about your child's needs. Depending on their age and needs, they may participate in programs offered by the probation department, or we can assist with referrals to community-based organizations.
