Yuba County Citizen Academy

The Citizen Academy is a 12 week course that consists of one night per week (day chosen can vary), from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Classes are held at the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department at 720 Yuba Street, Marysville. 

The courses will provide a better understanding of the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department. It is our desire that you learn about the objectives of the department, and get to know the people who accept responsibility for getting the job done.  An outline for the courses include information regarding the following areas of the Department:

  • Crime Scene Investigation
  • Gang Enforcement
  • NET-5
  • Ethics
  • Patrol Unit
  • Crime Analysis
  • K-9 Unit
  • Dispatch/Records
  • Boat Patrol
  • Search and Rescue
  • Investigations Unit
  • Animal Care Services
  • Crime Prevention
  • Coroners Cases/PIO
  • Volunteer Programs
  • SWAT/CNT
  • Corrections

Students must be at least 18 years of age, and successfully complete a minimal background investigation.
