Yuba
County Public Health has scheduled various flu clinics around the
county this new year. Another clinic was added for
Sunday, February 21, 2010 from 8AM to 12 PM. This
clinic will be at the Marysville Flea Market located at 1468 Simpson
Lane in Marysville.

If you can't make it to any of these clinics,
vaccines are available everyday to the public from 9 AM-11 AM and 2 PM-4
PM. Persons receiving the vaccines need to be at least 6
months of age. For the latest information about H1N1 vaccine

Immunization Clinics for
Minors
Yuba County Public Health provides immunizations for children 18
and under. To qualify you must either be eligible for Medi-Cal/CHDP
or be uninsured.
Immunizations are especially important for children that have
immunization requirements and are going to school for the first
time or if they are new to the area.
The cost is a sliding scale fee. Clinics
are scheduled on Wednesdays. Late afternoon immunizations
are currently not available. Please call for more
information regarding Wednesday schedules.
Public Health expands their services
Public Health will be offering new services including
pregnancy counseling, head lice checks and WIC assessments.
Pregnancy tests are $25 for new patients and $15 for returning
patients. Head lice checks and WIC assessments are also

California H1N1 Flu Hotline
The California Department of
Public Health has released a swine flu hotline to assist
Californians with whatever questions they have regarding swine
flu. The toll-free hotline is available in English,
Spanish and other languages. You can call the number at
(888) 865-0564. The swine flu hotline is available
Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 6 PM and on weekends from 8
AM to 4 PM.
H1N1 Flu Information
If you would like more information about H1N1 influenza
virus, please
visit the Centers for Disease Control's website at
http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/. There are
some recommendations you can take to help minimize spreading germs.
Here are some steps you can take to help protect your health:
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue
when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash
after you use it.
- Wash your hands often with soap and
water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based
hand cleaners are also effective.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
Germs spread this way.
- Try to avoid close contact with sick
people.
- If you get sick with influenza, CDC
recommends that you stay home from work or school and limit
contact with others to keep from infecting them.

are also posted on the CDC website.
Yuba County Drug Discount Program
Yuba county was recently approved for the Drug Discount
Program which helps customers save money with their prescription
medicine that are not covered by their insurance. The
cards are distributed by Yuba County Health and Human Services
and they are free of charge. Please note that these cards
are not proof of insurance. For more information please go

Emergency Plan Workbook for
People with Disabilities
Yuba County Public Health has a workbook where people with
disabilities and their families can fill it out and use during
an emergency. This workbook will come in handy in case the
disabled patient needs to evacuate to go to a shelter or a place
where they do not have their usual caregivers. This
workbook allows you to write any medications, medical equipment
and other aids to let the caregiver know what they need to make
the temporary move more comfortable. Please download the

Medical Volunteers
If
you're in the medical profession and would like to participate in the
California Medical Volunteer Site, you can now sign up by going to
https://www.healthcarevolunteers.ca.gov. Please be assured that all your
information will be kept confidential and your credentials will be validated
before getting accepted. This website is geared towards those who
would like to volunteer during disasters and emergencies. If you have
further questions please call the Health Department at (530) 749-6366 and
ask for Lissa or Cyndi.
Emergency Preparedness
For emergency purposes, those who are
unable to care for themselves and have no one to call
during an emergency evacuation are advised to register
with Yuba County Public Health Department. Your
information will remain confidential and will only be
used during emergencies. Public Health will use
the information to ensure that transportation will be
available to those who need it during an emergency
evacuation. You can sign up by going to the
emergency data information website.
