Omicron Variant Has Arrived

Sacramento County is one of several counties that has wastewater surveillance for COVID-19. On Dec. 6, 2021, county officials there were notified that the Omicron variant was found through a November 30th wastewater sample. Given this confirmation, we should now consider that the Omicron variant is in the greater Sacramento region, including Yuba-Sutter.

Again, many questions remain about the Omicron variant?
How does it move from person-to-person?
How do existing vaccines stand up to it?
What's its impact on such therapies as monoclonal antibody treatments?

We are optimistic further information will be forthcoming from the CDC in the next couple of weeks. As that information reaches us, we will share it here.
