Attempted Sexual Assault Arrest

Olivehurst, Ca. – On Wednesday 7/28/2021 at approximately 2:00 p.m., Yuba County Sheriff Detectives arrested Fred James Hampton, age 51 of Olivehurst, for Assault to Commit Rape, Burglary, False Imprisonment, Elder Abuse, and drug charges; after he allegedly forced entry into the home of an 87-year-old Olivehurst woman and assaulted her earlier in the day.

Yuba County Deputies responded to a home in the 5000 block of Olivehurst Avenue at approximately 11:00 a.m. after receiving a call from the victim reporting an unknown man had entered her home and attempted to rape her. The victim reported to deputies that she was in the kitchen doing dishes when the suspect forced entry into the residence and approached the victim from behind, kissed her neck, and made explicit statements to her. Fearing the man was going to rape her, the victim convinced the suspect to go outside with her. As the suspect exited the door, the victim quickly stepped back inside and shut the door behind the suspect. She then barricaded the door from inside. The victim told deputies that the suspect stood outside looking in the window at her for a short time before leaving on foot in an unknown direction.

The victim provided a description of the suspect, which was quickly shared with other deputies on patrol. A Yuba County detective searching the area observed a man matching the description of the suspect, later identified as Hampton, and contacted him. The victim positively identified Hampton as the man who allegedly entered her home and assaulted her.

Hampton was arrested and booked into the Yuba County Jail on charges of 220PC, 459PC, 368PC, 236PC, 11377H&S, and 11550H&S.
